Thought it would be OK for handicap individuals and well as persons of all ages.

Connie K., United States, 08-2008

Found the boat trip enjoyable and informative. There was more than enough to see during the scheduled three-hour stay at Mount Vernon. Staff was very helpful and the cafeteria was nice and all guides were very helpful.

Mark D., United States, 08-2008

tour was very easy to book on-line; there were no problems in redeeming the voucher; the trip up the Potomac was wonderful!! - - definitely worth the cost!!

Janet S., United States, 07-2008

On the whole, the experience was very pleasant. The boat crew/staff were as helpful as could be and very considerate towards my mother who has difficulty walking for very long. Would have loved to know that wheelchairs were available upon disembarking at Mt.Vernon.

Rosanna S., United States, 07-2008

It would have been nice to have walked off the boat at the end of the tour and found cabs waiting. There were at least 4 groups seeking cabs the day we went on the tour. I have a mild disability which makes walking difficult. Otherwise it was a good tour.

Lorna S., United States, 06-2008

We had a very cold and rainy day, but the crew still made us comfortable.

Diane O., United States, 05-2008

This was a nice tour, very easy to find, friendly staff, and they were on time!!!

Alexandra P., United States, 04-2008

This was a totally pleasant cruise to Mount Vernon with points of interest noted by the tour guide. When we arrived at Mt. Vernon, we were on our own and able to tour the compound at our leisure. Food was available across the compound for lunch.

Kathleen S., United States, 08-2007

Awesome

you truly feel like an invited guest when you visit Mount Vernon. The new gift shop and museum make it hard to leave the attraction-there is so much to see and do and all is tasteful

About Mt. Vernon

Mount Vernon was the beloved home of George and Martha Washington from the time of their marriage in 1759 until General Washington's death in 1799. He worked tirelessly to expand his plantation from 2,000 acres to 8,000 and the mansion house from six rooms to twenty one.

The Mount Vernon Ladies' Association purchased Mount Vernon from the Washington family in 1858 and opened the estate to the public in 1860. Since that time, nearly 80 million visitors have toured Washington's home. Mount Vernon is independent of the government and no tax dollars are expended to support the 500-acre estate, its educational programs or activities.

Visitors are invited to tour the Mansion house and more than a dozen outbuildings including the slave quarters, kitchen, stables, and greenhouse. Stroll four different gardens, hike the Forest Trail, and explore the George Washington: Pioneer Farmer site, a four-acre working farm that includes a recreation of Washington's 16-sided treading barn. The George Washington Museum and the Archaeology & Restoration Museum are open daily, in addition to a variety of seasonal walking tours and special activities. George and Martha Washington rest in peace in the tomb where wreathlaying ceremonies are held daily.
